Yoga for children is very different to adult yoga! Yoga for kids needs to be a lot more high-energy to keep them interested. This means that yoga for children involves music, group work, songs and games whilst ensuring the child performs proper yoga poses, breathing and relaxation techniques.
Yoga for children (3-5 year olds):
At this age the main aims are to develop motor skills and confidence - so it's music, songs, games etc.
Yoga for children (Yoga for 5-7 year olds):
Targetting body awareness, flexibility, strength building and self esteem. These classes are typically more story based with lots of imaginative play.
Yoga for children (Yoga for 8-12 year olds):
At this age the children can start to mix in more traditional yoga poses and sequences. As they progress with their levels of concentration and their attention span will improve.
