There are lots of experiments you can try when learning science. Home is a great place to start as you'll have all the things you need to put together a number of science-based demonstrations.
For example:
Make a volcano (science: home project):
- Take a plastic bottle and pour 60ml of water, red food colouring (a couple of drops) and vinegar in.
- Wrap 15ml of baking soda in a tissue and twist to make a packet
- drop the baking soda packet in the bottle and watch the results!
Nurturing an interest in science at home with your children will set them up well for school. Practical exercises countered with the theory they learn in the classroom can inspire and drive a child to succeed in a subject which they may be struggling with or uninterested in.
