Private personal training is the perfect solution for those of us who are either a bit self conscious in a group or work unusual hours and can't get to group fitness classes.
A few years ago I was keen to get healthy. After a particularly indulgent Christmas it was time to get back to feeling more energetic and happier with myself. At that point I couldn't face group fitness classes - the idea of having to keep up with people who were already pretty fit just filled me with horror. So private personal training was the way to go.
Private personal training helped to build my confidence and self esteem. It also meant that I could develop a program that was completely personalised and built around my own goals.
Taking the private personal training option also meant that I could fit the training sessions around my irratic work hours. Working as a nurse meant night shifts, weekend work and emergency call-outs, so I needed a training format that was flexible enough to fit around such varied work hours.
I would strongly recommend private personal training sessions to anyone who has been out of shape for a while and needs a bit of a kick start. Don't be put off by thinking it's just for people who want to run a marathon. I definitely didn't want to do anything extreme - but I admit that I needed the regular push of a personal trainer to make sure that I kept to the routine and put the hours in.
Five years later I'm still a lot healthier than I was that Christmas. I don't need to rely on private personal training and am confident enough to go to the group classes at the local recreation centre, but I would say that without that initial boost I definitely wouldn't be as healthy as I am now.
