A boxing training program should focus on power (reactive and endurance), muscular endurance, aerobic and anaerobic endurance.
Your training program will vary depending on whether you are boxing for personal fitness or training to fight. If you are training to fight your personal training program will be very different to that of someone boxing for regular fitness. A fight traiing profile will consist of planned prepatory training so that the boxer is ready at specific times of the year for the competitiview fights. Boxing for general fitness will usually occur as part of a wider personal training program.
Boxing uses a combination of anaerobic and aerobic fitness. Aerobic endurance is the most important when it comes to endurance. Repetitive training is required to build up a tolerance to lactic acid buildup in the muscles.
Boxing is a great all round sport that combines reaction speeds, fitness, aerobic and anaerobic training. When training to box the program should include both strength training and aerobic conditioning. Reactive speeds and coordination can both be improved significantly with a proper training program.
